Treatments
Treatment: Cataract Surgery
Cataracts can only be treated through surgery, which is a safe and effective procedure to restore vision.
Types of Cataract Surgery
- Phacoemulsification (Phaco) – A modern, minimally invasive technique using ultrasound to break up and remove the cloudy lens before replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL).
- Extracapsular Cataract Extraction (ECCE) – A traditional approach for advanced cataracts, requiring a larger incision to remove the lens.
- Femtosecond Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS) – A laser-guided procedure for improved precision and faster recovery.
Recovery After cataract surgery
- Most patients experience improved vision within a few days.
- Mild discomfort, light sensitivity, and temporary blurry vision may occur.
- Avoid heavy lifting, rubbing the eyes, or exposing the eyes to dust and bright light during recovery.
- Use prescribed eye drops to prevent infection and inflammation.
